| Brief profile: | Approximately 57,000,000 boxes of medicine expire every year in Greece. At the same time, social pharmacies cannot accommodate their 15,000 daily requests for medicines. We use technology to streamline the donation process for the surplus medication that many households have and link users with organisations that could redistribute this medication to individuals in need. GIVMED is the first community for utilizing excess medicines. A community that encourages and allows individuals to share their unused, unexpired medicines and save people’s lives. We develop a mobile app with the following features: 1.Display of the medicine shortages organisations have, segmented per region or medicine category 2.Quick registration of medicines, by scanning the unique barcode found on the medical packaging 3.Algorithmic matching between the shortages and the registered medicines that leads to donations. 4.The user chooses they way his donation will reach the beneficiary organisation; he will hand out it by himself use our network. 5.Personal online pharmacy so the user can keep track of his medicines and their expiration dates 6.Update on the numbers, donations and impact of our community Our vision is for everyone to have access to affordable medications. |
