| Brief profile: | The Day Care Center for the Vocational Training of People with multiple Disabilities “Spring Children”, is located in Alexandreia and provides services to people over 16 from all around the state of Imathia, with mental retardation, Down syndrome, autism, behavioral disorders and physical disabilities. Ιn the Center there are six workshops which aim at the professional training, personal independence and socialization of the trainees. The Silk Printing workshop, the Favors workshop, the Waxwork workshop, the Folk Art workshop, the Floriculture-Gardening workshop and the Autonomous Living. There is also an Education Class. At the same time, the psychologists and the social worker of the Center provide counselling to both trainees and their families. Furthermore, they organize and implement social skills programs which aim at the awareness of the community, the development of respect towards dissimilarity and the social inclusion of the trainees. Additionally, the trainees of the Center have the opportunity to have personal sessions of speech therapy and physiotherapy and to participate in a Physical Education program. All the above have only one goal: The support of People with Multiple Disabilities and their families. “Spring Children” are members of our everyday life. They are citizens in the same society, they have the same needs and wishes as any other human being, in order to live their lives with dignity. |
