| Brief profile: | The association “Initiative for the Child” was founded in the city of Veria, in April 2008. Our statutory objective is to prevent child abuse, to treat and educate children who: • Come from dysfunctional or broken families • Have experienced psychological and physical abuse within their familial environment • Have been sexually abused • Have experienced abandonment or severe neglect from their parents • Are experiencing isolation in home and in the social environment • Are deprived of their basic needs and rights. A. Daycare Center for Abused Children “Initiative for the Child” offers day care services and temporary accommodation to abused and/ or neglected children who come from dysfunctional or broken families. This house is located in the city of Veria. B. Report and Counseling Center “Initiative for the Child” is also the call center regarding the possible abuse and/ or neglect of children. A Child Social Worker is on duty 24 hours to immediately investigate calls of abuse and neglect (24/7 Hotline). C. Home of Vergina “Home of Vergina” is a facility designed to shelter children needing long term care. Today, the “Home of Vergina” can accommodate up to 20 children, in a family comfort environment. |
